Senior Preschool Program (3-5 year olds)

students and their teachers
The Senior Preschool Program at West Carleton Kids Korner is designed to encourage three and four year olds to develop their social and emotional skills, their gross and fine motor abilities and their cognitive concepts, in preparation for Kindergarten and life in general.

We carefully plan stimulating, developmentally appropriate activities based on the children’s interest and encompass all the domains of development. We elaborate on fine motor skills, such as proper holding of crayons, tracing, and use of scissors to ensure better preparation for their emerging writing skills.

By providing children with a variety of age appropriate books and our monthly story time with the librarian, we encourage children to develop a love for early literacy.

In addition to the planned indoor activities, children enjoy a variety of outdoor play opportunities in our wonderful fenced in playground space. We also go on nature walks and enjoy watching the beavers swim in the pond.

Approximately 3 planned field trips are planned each year to enhance the programming for the preschoolers and help better prepare them for riding the school bus in Kindergarten.
